DAVID POYER is a retired naval officer and the most popular living author of American sea fiction. He has published almost 30 novels since 1976.
Poyer is best known for his naval fiction series. His most popular series follow the career and adventures of US Navy officer Dan Lenson. Material for his books is drawn from Poyer’s career in the military. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1971 and served as a naval officer and reserve caption in the Atlantic, Arctic, Pacific, Caribbean, and Persian Gulf until his retirement in 2001.
Poyer’s work includes alternative history and science fiction written under the pseudonym David Andreissen. He currently teaches at the Wilkes University MA/MFA program in Creative Writing in Pennsylvania. He lives with his wife Lenore Hart and their daughter on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
