Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15th. Celebrate with trailblazers Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez, Héctor Tobar, Julissa Arce and María Amparo Escandón.
When Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez was fifteen, complications with her parents’ legal status forced them to return to Mexico. When this happened, Elizabeth stayed behind in the United States in order to pursue her education. Now a Rotational Product Manager at Facebook, Elizabeth’s TED Talk recounts her story of finding opportunity and stability in the United States. She also examines flaws in narratives that simplify and idealize the immigrant experience. Her talks inspire audiences to embrace their own journeys with courage and determination.
