Money, Not Fame: How to Be a Ghost Writer Many nonfiction books, especially those "written" by experts in fields other than writing, are actually written by ghostwriters. Ghostwriters have the gift of synthesizing information that comes out of someone else’s mouth, regurgitating it and spitting it out into an interesting, easily digestible book. Remember, we are all experts in something. Fashion designers may be good at putting together an outfit and fitness gurus may be good at slimming your body, but can they write a book? Not necessarily. But you can. You are a writer; that is your highly valued expertise. Take advantage of it. Los Angeles is where the diet, fitness, design and self-help trends are created. We are a melting pot of nonfiction experts, yet many writers in this city have their sights set on the big screen instead of the bookstore scene. Herein lies your opportunity to hook up with an expert and write their book! In this seminar, you’ll learn: How you can segue from freelance magazine writer to freelance book writer What the "rules" of ghostwriting are How to land a ghost writing gig The process of ghostwriting a proposal and a book How to Be a Great Mentor: Being a mentor isn’t just rewarding for the mentee, but for the mentor as well. The question is—how can you be a great mentor, what is too much and where is the line?
How to Find a Mentor and Get the Most out of that Relationship: Having a mentor can be a key component to your success. The question is—how do you find one, what can they do for you, how can you get the most out of them without crossing the line?
How to Fake Confidence in Business (until you ARE confident): Are you afraid of Success? Do you have a hard time following up, or following through? Sometimes you have to Fake It: you have to pretend to be confident, pretend to be strong, pretend to be successful and sure until you actually are. In this seminar you will learn: How to get out of the way of your success How to follow through and follow up How to use the connections that undoubtedly already surround you How to be a finisher How to act and eventually be confident and successful
Bring your Light Bulb Concept to Life: Particularly in today’s change-seeking business climate, many of us are looking to hone and follow our passions, turning hobbies into self-made jobs. We want to stop working for someone else and start working for ourselves. But how? What are we supposed to do with our "aha" idea? How many people do you know, including yourself, who have such a great idea, but don’t have the time or know-how to translate it into reality? If you have the drive, the high-level concept, and the contacts, then yes, you do have the time to make this happen. Fact is: You don’t need to be a guru to inspire. You don’t need to be a teacher to teach. You don’t need to be a writer to write. You can take your career to the next level. You may be a bartender or a store buyer and you don’t know how to take your talent, your passion, your knowledge and expand it so that it better benefits you. You may be told that you can’t make a career out of what you do, you never went to school for that. Plenty of entrepreneurs never went to school for "that." They just had the determination to follow a path—not even necessarily knowing where that path would lead, carving it out as they went along, following the light from their light bulb overhead until that light was given life. Now it’s your turn. When? Right now.
