Motivational Secrets of a Chief Executive Moose
St. Martin's Griffin

“This animated business analogy is corny, outrageously unrealistic, and at times fiendishly clever. Much of the practical wisdom imbedded in it is right on...

Idiot Bosses & the People Who Work for Them: John Hoover teaches employees how to thrive and survive without killing their bosses, and how to keep their inner idiots from sabotaging their careers. He leaves employees convinced that their bosses are not blocking their success at work as much as their own attitudes about authority. Nobody ever enhanced his or her career by making the boss look like an idiot. This is the ultimate message about taking responsibility for your own success at work. Dr. John also teaches managers and executives how to avoid becoming idiot bosses and driving their direct reports crazy. If bosses are already acting like idiots (as Dr. John himself has done at Disney, McGraw-Hill, and elsewhere) he teaches them how to begin their recovery and work the necessary steps to achieve a serene, peaceful, and collaborative state with those below, beside, and above them on the organizational food chain.
Constructive Confrontation to Raise Accountability, Reduce Conflict, & Give Change the Traction it Needs to Stick: John Hoover is a communications specialist at the mass media and interpersonal level. He helps people at all levels understand the communication stumbling blocks that disrupt career growth, as well as productivity and performance. By learning the process of confronting difficult issues sooner rather than later, Dr. John teaches line supervisors and Chief Executives alike how to script and carry out critical conversations on crucial issues. More importantly, this easy-to-follow Constructive Confrontation process makes enterprise-wide change management and the communication techniques that support it consistent. Dr. John teaches everybody why “One can never not communicate.”
