David Rosenfelt is the Edgar-nominated author of the Andy Carpenter mystery series, praised as “a blessed anomaly in crime fiction” (Booklist). He is also the writer of three TV movies, and founder of the Tara Foundation, which has saved 4,000 dogs.
Rosenfelt graduated from New York University with the goal of entering the movie business. He took a job with his uncle, then President of United Artists, and made his way up to a position as President of Marketing for Tri-Star Pictures, where he worked on films including Rocky, The Natural, and Rambo.
When Rosenfelt decided to leave the movie business and try his hand at writing, he wrote and sold several feature films and saw a few of his TV movies to the small screen. He completed his first novel Open and Shut in 2002, and has since written eleven novels, most of which feature Andy Carpenter, an attorney and dog lover whose affection for dogs often helps him solve mysteries.
In 1995, David and his wife started the Tara Foundation to find loving homes for dogs. They bring home the dogs that are too old or ill to be adopted, and currently live with 27 dogs.
