A. Michael Lipper has over 40 years investment industry experience as the CEO of a New York Stock Exchange member firm, a registered investment advisor, and as an analyst of, and consultant to, the investment company business. In 1998, he sold the operating assets of Lipper Analytical Services, Inc., now Lipper, Inc., a globally recognized databank of information about investment companies that he founded in 1973, to Reuters plc. Lipper Advisory Services, Inc. has been advising endowment and foundation trustees, retirement plan sponsors, and high net worth families since 1981, and has in excess of $2 billion under management.
In addition to his corporate activities, Lipper has been active in various industry associations. From 1993 to 1994, he served as president of the New York Society of Security Analysts. He has served on the Society’s Board for some part of each of the last four decades, and for many years was the chairman of the Investment Strategy Forum/ Portfolio Management Committee. He is currently a trustee of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), a member of the board and chair of the investment committee of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and a member of the board of The Greater New York YMCA, as well as chairing the investment sub committee of Atlantic Health Systems. He is a former Captain in the US Marines and a founder of the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
